chihuahua

I am getting adorable chihuahua .She will be 8 weeks and I have no idea what to feed her except that I would want her to start eating raw food diet.  Wonder if she will be able to transform without gettin sick.?
Any ideas? Thanks.

If you are going to feed her a different diet to the one she is used to you need to gradually
introduce the new food. Still feed the diet she has been on find out from the breeders and add a little bit more of the new food each day! Go slow, unless you want a very unhappy puppy with diahrea and stomach upset.
raw meat is good for dogs, but they need other vitamins and minerals which they cant get from just raw meat alone.
I feed my dogs a mixture of cooked and raw , adding juiced veges and rice and a daily vitamin for dogs. I also give them (RAW) bones on a weekly basis which they love!
Do not give your puppy bones ! ! though !

Thank you for advise. I was thinking that it should be done gradually...and you just confirmed my thought.
I will give some vitamins for sure...but really want to get away from feeding   dry food after this scare with melamine in all the pet foods that were recalled.
I was also told that all brands of dog food is produced in one big place and has different shapes and sizes but it's the same  and is distributed to stores all over the country. It makes sense that dogs and cats were dying everywhere in the country US or Canada..
Do you think it's true? What food do you give your dog?

yes, I totally agree with what your saying!
I dont trust feeding my dogs pet foods anymore!
Also have you noticed our dogs seem to have alot more health problems now adays than they did years ago.
I started feeding my dogs fresh home cooked and raw food when my shihtzu had a reaction from the dog food, (bloody diahrea) and vomiting and I havent looked back since they are happy and healthy and just love the food!
Just recently there was a story on tv about a dog that is 19 and still going strong and guess what the owner feeds him raw meat!!!!

I buy meat in bulk that way its cheaper and freeze, I alternate between raw and cooked
mince,chuck steak,rice,juiced vegies etc the only vegies I use is carrots,broccoli,cauliflower and beans I know these dont upset there tummy!
onion is toxic to dogs and corn and peas upsets a dogs digestive system

I figure that in the wild,  dogs ...any dogs ...they are feeding on animals not some dry dog food  made up in a factory. I see my cats feeding on anything that moves and they still come for their meal of liver and heart or kidneys or other inside organs. They will eat some dry food but very little and  noticed that after they will puke it out so I don't give them any more this dry junk and they are healthy...I have them for 5 years and never went to the vet yet. They are outside/inside  cats and I have no problem.
I will post some pics of them in my profile. As for vitamins I don't give them any cause they feed on wild things and get what they need.

true, dogs are carnivores and should be fed the diet there digestive systems are designed for!
when I feed them raw meat which I can only afford once/twice a week they go nuts over it! and pester me for more! lol
anyway hopefully you can post some pics of your pets and your new addition to the family when you can!
