chow-yeast ear infection-blood in ear-blood drained and no droops-why?

by patrice640, Mar 27, 2008 10:52PM
I took my chow who is 12 years old to the vet, because I noticed that she kept shaking her head and scratching at her ear. When I touched the ear it was swollen and the tip hung. Mistyrose is an inside dog. We let her out to play and sun at times, but most of the time she is inside. We noticed some weeks ago that she had fleas and went to pets mark and  purchased shampoo and conditioner. I have been bathing her every week and have now dried out her skin. Well when I took her to the vet I was told that she had an ear infection and I was told that it was a YEAST INFECTION. She is taking clavamox-amoxicillin and prednisolone tablets. The blood was drained from her ear with a syringe, But wheb I asked would her ear ever go up again..Because she is so fluffy and cute. This is my baby. I was told NO that her ear will not stand up again on it's own without surgery. I ask why, But really did not get an answer. I want to know why her ear will not standup again on it's own after it gets well? And does this effect her hearing?
