deadly bloating in 8 & 9 week old pups

I'm losing pups that are 8 and 9 weeks old, they will be playful, happy, puppies. With in hours they will bloat, suffacate & die. These pups have had shots & wormed, this doesn't happen in relation to the S&W. It has happened to a puppy that was at a different home & had been there for a week. We gave this pup some gas drops for babies, a dose about every hour for 3 doses, so far this is the only puppy that has survived. It not 100% yet but is improving. Have had pups vet examined before this happened, said to be in good shape, then next day or so they bloat and die.
Thank you for any help !!! ~Mary~

You might try posting this experience to one of the vets on the Ask a Vet board here at Med Help.  Hopefully they'll have some suggestions for you.  How bizarre and sad.  :-(

Unfortunatly both times the puppies have past away when the vets office was closed. I saved the pup in refridgerator till next morn. by that time the bloat was gone & no cause could be determind. Samples were sent to the lab. & nothing deadly or uncommon found.
I have only saved one puppy here & 1 pup that was in another home & had been for a week. It was a different breed, diff. litter, yet it bloated the very same night as the one I had here. I was a vet. tech. for 20yrs & a breeder for over 40yrs. I've never seen anything like this. My vet. wasn't the only one who couldn't find out the problem, the other pup was seen by 2 different vets. still no answers. I saved my pup with a GasX capsul & the other pup was saved with infant gas drops. both seem fine right now, not 100% but eating & alert. I have considered the food, my puppy food is being eatten by at least 15 other mommas & pups. The pup at the other home was on diff. brand completely. I just haven't a clue. do you???????????????????  Thanks!  ~Mary~

Do you get them immediately to the vet upon showing the very first signs of illness?  Have you had any of the pups necropsied?
