dog nail problem
our 3 year old westie is having a real issue with her nails. About a year ago she lost one and we thought it just got torn out as she was on a walk and digging but this is not the case. her nails are all getting progressively worse. She has lost 3 in the past year and is limping from the obvious discomfort.her nails are softer than they should be and have a scaly growth on them. we have supplemented her diet with omega 3 for about 2 months but are seeing no improvement. We would like to narrow the field so that we can help her recover from this condotion. Any suggestions would be considered.

Have your vet run a complete set of labs including thyroid.  Many hormonal imbalances, autoimmune problems, etc. can manifest in nails before it is completely obvious in other areas.
