grade 3 mast tumor

hi - my 12 year old greyhound had a mass removed from her hind leg that is cancerous. her cbc was perfect, but there were no platelets found in the blood that comprised the tumor on her leg. i just ordered k9 immunity and k9 transfer factor to help build up her immunity, and we're increasing omega 3's and removing all grain from her diet. does anyone have any experience with this sort of thing? would love some insight and wisdom from those who are in the know. i know that everyone thinks their dog is uniquely stunning, and amazing,  BUT .... i really think my dog sort of is.   we made a you tube video of her entitled Abby the greyhound  and it reveals just what a specimen of nature she is. we want to take the best course of action for her. she still acts like a puppy and eats and poops well.  anyway, we're sad, and we know cancer happens, but maybe we can beat it and have her live out a normal life span. having said that, we don't want to necessarily put her on chemo that may have bad side effects. we're still researching it all.  with heavy hearts.

Hey, good luck to your dog. With all the love and care you're giving her, she'll be happy, and you know, that counts for a lot. I don't know about the cancer on her leg, and why there were no platelets in the mass. I'm not sure about that kind of thing and have no experience, But you got the cancer taken off so that gives her a brilliant fighting-chance. It may have been excised really well, and not have spread. Just keep on giving her the best healthy diet you can find, and lots of love and fun, and I bet she has a lot more time with you yet!

PS....my mother had the nastiest evillest-looking breast cancer you've ever seen! She got the breast taken off, a little radiotherapy, and it NEVER CAME BACK! So that can happen.

thanks for your kind words. we see an oncologist tomorrow. that's cool about your mom. yay. as far as abby's tumor, he couldn't get every bit of it ..... but we will blast those evil, remaining cancer cells with immunity enhancing supplements and whatever course of chemo we decide on. ggrrrrr....

It might be worth trying the chemo? There are herbal supplements anti-nausea drugs and things which can help greatly with any possible side effects.
