Surgery is usually the best answer for ear flap hematomas. Treating them medically until they heal (with corticosteroids)can mean there will be some scarring after the hematoma has healed which can make the ear crumply, and liable to infection afterwards, and also the hematoma can often come back.

It could be from what you describe, that there already is some infection in her ear? (as you mention "discharge", not just blood??)
She may need antibiotics to clear this.
What does your vet recommend as the best treatment?
