pesticides and herbicides

Not a question but wanted to post to make everyone aware that canine bladder cancer (tcc) has been linked to pesticides and herbicides especially in scottish terriers.  I just lost my girl of 16 years to this terrible disease.  She beat the odds living almost 3 years since diagnosis.  The vet had given her 6 months (the average).   Scotties are 18 times more prone to this disease, so it is imperative that they be kept away from these chemicals.  I feel so guilty because I was not aware of this until after her diagnosis.  The labels on these products don't give all the ingredients.  It is the "other ingredients" that are not listed that cause the problem.

Walking thru any area that has been treated.  It get absorbed thru their skin.  It's a good idea to wash their paws if they have been in an area that you know has been treated or if you don't know for sure that it has not.  I don't use any flea or tick preparations on my dogs now either, although I live in Arizona and we don't have much of a flea/tick problem.  If they did start having problems I would opt for holistic treatments.

Thank you for that information! It is greatly appreciated! How are the dogs exposed to the chemical? Walking in the grass? Or through the air? Just imagine what those chemicals do to humans too. Again thanks.
