please help!!! my dog wont eat...

hi... have a dog 8 months old... a week and a half ago she started to go off food and getting sick....she kept bringing up bile. she has been to vet few times and been on antibiotics in case of stomach infection... gavascon in case of too much bile...x-xrays and bloods and vet operated on her today to check her out and stomach, intestines etc all fine... does anyone have any idea what could be wrong with her beacuse we running out of options... she hasnt eaten since saturdayas she brings everything back up again and was drinking a lot of water but stopped yesterday so she on a drip now... any help greatly appreciated..

I am wondering if they may have missed something during the surgery, because it sounds like it could be something called an intussusception.  In an intussusception, part of the intestine telescopes back over itself.  It's very difficult to diagnose and very easy to miss.  Ultrasound is useful in diagnosing it, as is MRI.  It's even possible that it was missed during an exploratory surgery because unless they removed all of the intestines and stretched them out to their full length it could have been overlooked.  It is often misdiagnosed as a possible blockage or even the stomach flu.  I would go to another vet and have more diagnostics done.  I would request an ultrasound and/or MRI (magnetic resonance imaging). X-rays are pretty much useless in diagnosing an intussusception.  I would definitely discuss the possibility with a second opinion vet as well as with the vet who performed the surgery, although the vet who performed the surgery is liable to take umbrage with the suggestion that he overlooked something during the surgery that he performed.  An intussusception just always comes to mind in this type of situation because it IS so difficult to diagnose and is so easily overlooked.  Please post back and let us know what you decided to do as far as getting a second opinion and what the vets felt as far as the possibility of an intussusception.

Oh My...I am so sorry for your loss......Did a hint of Kidney Failure not show up on the original bloodwork? I'm kinda confused and curious....

Did your Vet think it was a congenital defect or acute (Poisoning)?
