puppy rash

my 7 month old puppy chihuaha/terrior has recently developed within 3 days a huge rash with red bumps raised on his skin/open red pus wounds...;o( i havent changed any household things that could cause this reaction...nor have i changed his dog food.  is there an over the counter remedy?
