retained deciduous canine teeth maxillary

Hello,
Does anyone have information about retained deciduous (baby) teeth in a dog?  I have a friend with a year old yorkie-pooh who still has upper baby canine teeth.  There is quite a bit of gunk built up in between the permanent canine (fully erupted) and baby canine.  Every bit of research I have done online suggests removal- but she told me that the vet she takes her dog to said that it was fine to leave them.  thanks

They retain teeth should be removed. The food and gunk get's cault between the adult and baby teeth witch is not good for the adult teeth. Add's to bad breath and can also misaline the adult teeth.
