she is a very good dog but all summer now slowly she is losing control over her one hind leg and her mustle mass is going down fast aswell she drags her foot around i have to put booties on her foot she scraping it to blood ...but what interests me the most is why every time we touch her back about from the middle down towards her tail makes her totally shake (not a painfull shake) a omg i love it shake do it more her foot starts stomping she sitts down head goes up ( she loves it  the shaking is kinda like shivers down her back side ... im wondering if that may have anything to do with her lost of mustle and control over her back leg  all the vet said was give her glocosamine ?????

This sounds very much like my daughter's old dog.  She has arthritis and now is getting injections and is on supplements.  You really should take her in for a thorough exam.

You should research 'Radial Nerve Paralysis'. I believe the dragging paw can be an early sign. I would get on it quickly.

There's nothing wrong with asking a healthcare professional to further explain a diagnosis. If I don't get an answer over the phone, I swallow my pride and book another appointment with the same doctor. If cost is a concern, write it out in a legible signed by you letter. Enclose an SASE and remind the front desk a day or two later about how fortunate you are to have such an accommodating place to take care of your dog!

If that doesn't work, ask friends or a local pet store that you like for an affordable referral!

It may be nerve origin from muscle, back or brain. Do please get clarification sooner rather than later. Good luck!

Hi. Glucosamine promotes healthy cartilage in joints and is used for the treatment of arthritis, including hip dysplasia. However, it is odd to prescribe this without at least taking an X-Ray to check on joints, hip and leg bones and spine. It sounds to me as if this is more than straightforward arthritis.

Maybe it's time to ask the vet what (exactly) he or she thinks is wrong - or try another more hands-on and pro-active vet who will treat your dog properly. Eight year olds can certainly get arthritis, so it shouldn't be discounted, but you need a proper diagnosis and an effective treatment plan.
