ruptured ear drum

My snorkie went to the vet to be boarded on Wednsday seemingly fine with no symtoms of an ear infection. The vet tech checked her ears and said everything was fine. Three days later we got a call while on vacation saying that she had a serious ear infection that caused her ear drum to rupture. Is it possible for an infection to become that serious in that short a time if no signs of a problem were visable only days earlier?

My dog's ears were checked on Wed. at noon and found to be clear. When they were checked again on Sat. the ear was supposedly seriously infected enough to have ruptured the eardum. When we picked her up on Tues., the ear drum was completely repaired. (I have this in writing from the vet's office.) My question is how long does it take for the infection to damage an ear and then how is it that it was cleared up so quickly? This all happened within a few days. Does this seem suspicous to any one else?

Yes, the infection could have been brewing for some time, and just coincidentally got worse while she was boarded.  Hope she's well on her way to recovery now.  :-)
