sarcoma in mouth

sarcoma in mouth

My 10 year old shepherd x malamute x husky x wolf has sarcoma in her mouth. It is in the back by her molar on her upper gums. She has always been a very healthy dog and still seems to be. She just had blood work done and all levels were normal. She has plenty of energy and seems to be in good spirits. Any ideas on what I can do to continue her quality of life while extending it if possible??? Any thoughts on how much time we might still have with our princess? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I am so sorry about your news and I feel your pain & confusion. I have a beautiful high energy  healthy & happy 11 year old golden retriever who's biopsy came back today as a fibrosracoma also. She developed a lump on her upper jaw and under her muzzle that grew pretty fast so a biopsy was in order. I am told that surgery would be extensive & part of her jaw would have to be removed and this kind of cancer returns rapidly with a vengence so I will not put her through that or chemo or radiation. I dont know too much about how this progress's so I am curious to see what kind of answers we get here.  Needless to say my heart is breaking at the thought of losing my best friend of over a decade and I am researching some holistic options for her care from this point forward. A friend told me about a diet "Budwig Diet?" that may be worth checking into though I dont know much about it at this point other then I believe it includes flaxseed oil somehow.

It is too bad that there seem to be so many people going through this with their beloved animals. I have found some great info by searching online and through some other forums. You might want to check them out...

I have immediately changed my dogs diet to a no grain diet because I have read all over that carbs feed the tumors. There are actually quite a few options of kibble or many people decide to start preparing their own food for their dogs.

Good luck with this battle and give your golden some extra lovin'!
