seizures

This is really not a question, but I wanted to post for others that my dog had a seizure a few weeks back. I called 3 different vets and each had a different plan. One said that it might be his thyroid, but not to worry about it. Not one said I should do blood work right then. The one that suggested the thyroid, I took my pet into right away, and do you know it was his thyroid. I am telling you all this because the thyroid controls so much of the body systems and my pet could have been a lot worst had I waited. Now he is a happy dog feeling ton's better and no more seizures ( right now, as long as this helps his thyroid).

Lindapalm, My Dog is 7 now, Seeana, you almost had me! lol....
Jperrin,  I hope that the dog food change really does help. Please keep us posted on your dog. I did change the dog food for my dog with no corn etc, but recently went back with him on a food with oatmeal in it, still no corn. I have three big dogs so I needed to try to keep the cost down.

Blood test is a good thing to do.  In my dogs case the test shwed everything normal. We have had the best results in using dog food that does not contain corn or wheat or grain (most do). In fact it appears to have corrected the situation...so far two mos and no trouble. Though this does not apply in your case perhaps it will help others.

Thanks for the info, I never would have thought thyroid problems could cause seizures.  I definately would stick with the vet that guessed right.  How old is your dog?
