sick cocker spaniel

Hi , my five year old Cocker Spaniel just out of the blue got sick four days ago, she could not walk , she was holding her head one sided, she was disoriented, and was drooling out of the left side of her mouth. I took her to the vet  right away , he diagnosed her with inner ear inflamation, put her on steriods and antibiotics, that was four days ago, she seemed to be a little better yesterday, but today she was holding her head to one side and drooling on just one side of her mouth, she is just not herself, she seems like her balance is still so off, the vet said she may never really get over this condition,  i just cannot figure out why he did not do blood work or an x-ray? she has never had a history of ear problems. If anyone has had anykind of experiece or knows of any other disorder this could possibley be please post for me.. she is eating now, and drinking , she just could not eat for two days as she seems so nauseaus and was vommiting , she seems to be little better and then she goes right back to being so sick... thanks trisha

Hi,

I would google "Canine Vestibular Disease" and see if any of those symptoms match your babies. One of mine had it once and the symptoms are very similar to what you are describing. There are others too.
And maybe a different vets view might be needed. Some just aren't familiar w/ all things. Especially since this one did no bloods or anything like you say.

Take care, Teresa ; )

Take her back to the vet if she's not clearly improving.  It could just be a stubborn inner ear infection, or it could be something worse.  Does the vet know she's not getting a lot better yet?
