swollen neck, lethargy, trembling

My 5 yr old dacshund developed lethargy, swollen neck, slight fever, severe trembling, poor apetite about a week ago, I have taken her to vet twice, once he gave her a shot of penicillin, now she is on a 2 week amoxicillin regime. She has no energy, sometimes unable to walk around, holds head down, tail under her body.  Any ideas?

Hi.  My dog is going thru this too.  We have done several rounds of antibiotics. When she starts to get better she goes down hill again.  What eventually happened with your dog
Thank you!  I am at my wits end!

Did the vet do a full blood screening for her? That might show if there is any imbalance anywhere at all. SOMETHING is making her feel like this.
Also you could have her checked for Lyme disease. That's another thought.

The vet has no idea what is wrong, he checked her teeth, lymph nodes, checked for puncture wounds, no injury that I am aware of.  She seems to be better at times, then when I take her out for a walk, she tires out quickly, stops, begins to tremble, and acts like she can't move.  I pick her up and take her in, she sleeps for app. 2 hrs, then seems to feel a little better.  This cycle just keeps repeating.  She takes her meds really well, she is a little trooper.   Thanks for your response.  yellowrose185

Did the vet say what is wrong with her? I presume some kind of infection if Amoxycillin was prescribed? Have her teeth been checked? That's the first thing. Second is her lymphatic system. Another thought is -has she been stung or had any injury on her neck? If there is a puncture wound in the skin there, it's possible it could have got infected.

Dogs tremble when they are in pain. Not only if they are cold or afraid.
Your poor girl. She doesn't feel well, and I do hope you find out what this is, and it responds to treatment. I hope she is feeling better soon.
