toenail discoloration

My 7 year old boxer had all clear toenails until one day they started to get discolored from where they exit her paw and the discoloration goes about a quarter way down each nail. It is a brownish, almost dried blood color. What could this be? It is inside the actual nail and does not seem to bother her at all nor do her nails need cut.
