vaccinations

I would like to know if vaccinations can be given to a dog if they have early signs of distemper? Just happened to be reading info on canine distemper and my 7 yr old dog might have distemper, will be taking her to vet tomorrow and am wondering if they will vaccinate her if she has or is getting distemper. Would appreciate a comment,

If she has distemper, she wouldn't be given the distemper vaccine. I do not know all there is to know, so you must ask your vet. But I had a similar problem with my dog. Just before I rescued her when she was about 4, she had nearly died from Parvo. Fortunately, she pulled through. The next vaccination, she was not given the Parvo part of the vaccination. She was given this only the next year (I wasn't even certain she needed it then, but went along with what the vet suggested, and she showed no ill-effects.)

Vaccination also does put a certain strain on the immune system, and this is not a good idea when there is a serious illness like Distemper. I think it would be better to wait until she recovers. Do talk to your vet about this.
