Hi. The cortisone tablets are given for a wide number of problems, but mainly inflammation. It would be useful to know what the vet thought the problem is and I agree with what Margot has said, that blood panel results and xrays are needed. If he's not eating or drinking, that's of great concern. While a dog can go some time without eating, the lack of fluids can rapidly cause a health emergency.

It's hard for anyone here to offer much help without some kind of diagnosis being offered by the vet - or results of blood testing to give an idea of what's going on.

So sorry to read this.  You realize your Lab is definitely up there in years and his body just may be giving out from old age.
Dud your Vet run a blood panel to check his liver and kidney function?  I take it you mean he got two shots.  Do you know what he was given and for what?
We're any abdominal x-rays taken?
Some of these possible ussues may be helped with medication and diet, however, you say he is not eating or drinking.  His organs may just be shutting down.
I wish there was some magic remedy I could suggest but it really sounds like your old guy has no quality of life the way he is now.  He may certainly be feeling very ill and is in pain.  It is a difficult decision to make but the last act of live you can do for him is to give him a peaceful passing. None of us want to see our animals suffer.
