Yes that's right.Dogs are omnivores
It's always good for (most of) them to have a little added vegetables in with their food. Green beans are good for dogs, apples are (no seeds) carrots, peas, sweet potato, cabbage, kale etc
A grass-muncher is saying "hey -I like some green stuff too as well as meat and kibble!"

Studies have proven that it is an old wives tale that dogs eat grass to make themselves vomit.  Dogs are simply more omnivorous than was previously believed and actually LIKE to have plant material included in their diets for variety.

Dogs eat grass when they're under the weather and need to be sick.

I agree with the posts above. It helps with their upset tummies, I noticed my pup always went straight for the grass before he vomited, or was bored. Vomiting aside, I always teased about how he was my personal lawnmower, him and my miniature would just graze the grass in our backyard in between playing.

Yes, it's not always a sign they are unwell or anything like that. I too, feel that dogs just like to eat grass sometimes! I really do think it's as simple as that.
I know there are times when, if a dog feels a little "yucky" it will eat grass. That, I think is similar to the times when a Human may feel a little sluggish internally, and eat a fresh apple, and feel much better afterwards.

There are some dogs who vomit after eating grass. But I don't think this is an issue worth too much worry. If your dog is like that, don't be TOO concerned. Some do -some don't vomit.
I'm not entirely sure why some do bring it back up again. It certainly isn't because grass is toxic in any way. It could be either they ate too much, or it acts in a "stomach-cleansing" way on some dogs, cleaning away any mucus they may have on their stomachs.
My dog used to eat some grass, and never sicked it up again.
Interesting....when I started to add some green beans (cooked) to her food, I noticed she hardly ate grass afterwards.

Dogs are not strict carnivores like cats are.  Dogs prefer a more varied diet and grasses and plant life fill that bill nicely for them.  The reason many dogs eat grass is because they like it.  It's kind of like us preferring a salad from time to time instead of meat with just a serving of vegetables.  The grass absolutely will not hurt them unless it has been sprayed with pesticides or some type of fertilizer.  If you are sure that the grass has not been treated with anything, feel free to let your dog graze from time to time.  :)
