why is my german sheperd lathargic

my 9 yr old german sheperd is very lathargic, wont eat anything incliding ham (which is his favorate) this only seems to last for a few hr at a time and is the second time it has happened in the last week, he is very shaky on feet and cant be bothered to even move, almost like he is spaced out he is also drinking excessively over the last week or so he is normally puppy like full of energy and wanting to play. please help

May be diabetes. I have heard of this happening. The vet can tell you more, but my bet would be this. Changes in diet and checking blood sugars will be a big part of the treatment.Also, medications may be recommended. I hope everything goes well for you.

No way to tell what is causing this as it may be any number of things from something systemic to something physical causing pain. I suggest you take him into the Vet for a thorough examination.  Hope you can figure out what is wrong.
