why won't my dog in renal failure drink drink water?

I have a 16 year old sheltie, Joshie, who was diagnosed  with chronic renal failure on Aug. 28th. Was drinking lots of water and urinating a lot.  We took him to the vet for intravenous fluids for two day and now I have to force water using a syringe,or give them subcutaneously.  Why won't he drink any more. Is there any way I could entice him to drink on his own again.

So sorry to read this.  I had Shelties for years.
You might try adding a bit of low sodium chicken broth.
He may be nauseated.  You might ask your Vet about that and possibly he can prescribe something
Good luck.
Have you read the info on these boards on renal disease?
