A Daughter with Downs Syndrome

I would like to know if there is a connection with Down's Syndrome and Dyslexia.  The reason I am asking is that my daughter, has Downs and has been showing some signs of it for a while now, such as left and right confusion, or when she is writing her b's an d's, or trying to rhyme words. This is all such a huge struggle for her dispite the fact that she is high functioning and despertly wants to learn. She is 37 now and really wants to learn how to do better.  Also, do you know anything about the reading program, Orton-Gillingham ?  It is a different way to teach reading, and I am very interested in learning all of this to help my daughter. This is not the traditional way of learning to read, and I am studying all I can right now about dyslexia and this program that is deeply integrated to see what good it will do my daughter. What are your thoughts on this?

Thankyou
