i had the same fears during my pregnancy.  i still held out hope of course that she didn't have DS, but she did and you know what????  she is the best thing to ever happen to me.  she is 3.5 yrs old now and still the sweetest, most caring, beautiful child ever.  it is NOT a curse, it is a blessing.
the fear and worry and anxiety i had my entire pregnancy was a huge waste of precious time.  i would not change a thing about her.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi!
Naturally you are apprehensive. Unless there is a strong family history, and you are having the first pregnancy after 35 years of age, screening test alone will not be diagnostic of Down's Syndrome. Yes, the risk is high, but this is just a risk. Further blood tests and amniocentesis will be required for confirmation. Please discuss with your doctor. Try to not worry much until you have all the results (easier said than done). Take care!

The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history. Hence this reply to your post should only be considered as a guiding line and you must consult your doctor at the earliest for your medical problem.
