t-21 test

I had the t-21 test done a week ago and was told it would take two weeks for the results. i am so stressed out. Im 18w 4d and 36 years old so i was at an increased risk because of my ago. my first two ultrasounds looked good and the Dr said the baby was the correct size but i can't help but worry. Is there anyone that has been in this situation. i don't know if reading stories is helping because i read lot about how everything looked normal in the us but the test came back positive for ds. This week just can't go by quick enough. i want answers.

Let me start by saying if your baby has Down Syndrome you don't need to be afraid. It will be the greatest gift and experience of your life! I swear on that!
We did the t21 test when I was pregnant and the odds of your baby having DS is pretty low. That test has a lot of false negatives. We found out during a diagnostic ultra sound that our son most likely had DS so we did a very expensive blood test that confirmed it.  We were terrified, but if we had only known how life changing and elevating our sons gift would be we wouldn't have worried one bit.
Ill tell you what I wish someone had told me. A child with Down syndrome is a gift. Your life will be so rich and your outlook on everything will change. You will see that you are strong beyond what you thought possible and he will fill every second of your life with meaning. He will be everything you never knew you needed and every milestone will be more momentous than the last. Please don't be afraid of DS, there's nothing to be afraid of

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi!
It is natural to be apprehensive. If you had a screening T 21 test then, this will only indicate an increased or normal risk or no risk. The screening test does not conclusively say that the baby has Downs syndrome. If you had a diagnostic T21 test like amniocentesis, then the results can tell you whether baby has Down’s or not. So if you had a screening test, and it is positive for Down’s, then in all probability you will need a diagnostic test as well. However, though not easy, please do not read much on this if it is increasing your apprehensions. Staying positive helps, and it is not necessary your baby has Down’s.  Take care!
