He is 15, and the pain for him started when he was in the 5th grade. It was his first symptom. He has had every GI test they could give him. He currently takes Doxepin for his dysautonomia. It has taken care of many of his symptoms, but he still has daily nausea. The Cleveland dr's, after every GI test, said his nausea is neurological though. He also has Gastroparesis and does not sweat anywhere on his abdominal area. (See pictures on my profile of his thermoregulartory sweat test.)
His pain is also upper right quadrant. The Cleveland dr's also noticed that he has no reflex response in that same area.
Funny....my pain currently since Dec has been right upper quadrant. how old is your son and what meds do they have him on?
You don't have to pass out on the TTT. My son didn't and he was diagnosed with POTS.
He also has GI issues as his main complaint, and nausea. He used to have bad abdominal pain that no one could figure out(doctors wanted to label it anxiety). SInce starting medications, his abdominal pain is much better, still bothers him a little here and there, but no longer curled in a ball from the pain. It does hurt if you push down on the right side of his abdomin though.
I am not sure if u actually have to pass out to have a diagnosis of POTs but know there r many on this board that will know. In the meantime it doesn't hurt to treat the anxiety as if u do have a dysautonomia of some.sort the anxiety doesnt help. I know I don't really have answers for.u but just want u to know ur not alone and u aren't crazy.

I had the semi+ test with a cardiologist. The second one is with a neurologist he said it could be postural tachycardic syndrome...he is an autonomic specialist. That neuro was about an hour from my home. I've seen one closer and he acts like he doesn't believe the condition exsists....or if i did have a dysautonomia I would be much "sicker" looking. The reason I say semi+ is because I didn't pass out.
U don't sound crazy to me just anxious to know whats wrong. I know the feeling so hang in there and keep searching for answers. They will come. I would think a positive tilt table would give your Dr an answer. Am confused about that
