Can I take a Xanax 0.5 mg before an echocardiogram?

I am having an echo done to see the cause of palpitations. Will taking xanax affect the efficacy of the test? thanks.

When you are going to have a test they usually give you a number to call if you have a question or change in schedule.  Call the testing center and run it by their staff to be sure.
They deal with this all the time so they should have an answer.  If you can't get  them then maybe you can ask the doctor that ordered the test. Marie

if they are looking for a structural defect then it shouldn't matter but it will slow your heart rate so if you want to get the most accurate picture I wouldn't take it.
I'm no dr. though, just my opinion :)
