Dr needed

My husband needs a definitive diagnosis for autonomic dysfunction.  We are looking for an outstanding physician in the NY-NJ area.  Compassionate and very smart.  His diagnosis was made by an internist who probably has no other patients with this disorder.  Thanks

The facilities halbashes listed above are both dedicated dysautonomia clinics and should have the same level of autonomic testing capacity as Mayo/Vandy/Cleveland.  (Unlike most every other hospital in the nation.)  That's why we have those hospitals' dysauto clinics listed on our health page to which halbashes linked--they are unique in this.  If you have questions about this, I would definitely recommend you at least call Mount Sinai and/or Langone to inquire about their facilities before traveling all the way to one of the other centers, since you have two right there in NY.

If you need a list of tests that generally comprise a comprehensive autonomic testing facility, let us know.

I live in NYC and was diagnosed with small fiber neuropathy and orthostatic intolerance by the Mayo Clinic in Minn. For follow-up treatment i have been seeing Dr. Louis Weimer at Columbia University (who heads their autonomic testing lab there). He is essentially following the Mayo Clinic's treatment suggestions but is knowledgeable and aware of the alternative options since these conditions require tons of medication adjustments / trials. He is a bit socially awkward but it's not arrogance - i think he'd just prefer to be i the lab than with people. The one thing to remember is this is a teaching hospital so "fellows" are the ones taking call shifts (nights / weekend) and you will sometimes be working with their less experienced fellows but Dr. Weimer will always be involved. I am still having a tons of problems getting my condition under control so i have also debated going back to Mayo or trying Vanderbilt or Cleveland Clinic as there is some add'l testing i'd like done etc. I hope this helps!

I am aware of two hospitals in New York that diagnose and treat patients with various forms of Dysautonomia and Autonomic Dysfunction.  Unfortunately, I am not aware of a specific specialist.

Langone Medical Center:

Mount Sinai:
