Noise = nausea? Really?

Well, Im at work at the moment. There's a TON of construction noise outside. For some reason, I'm feeling... nauseous? A strange, vague sensation of nausea. I'm not quite sure where it came from. Is this normal for dysautonomia? I know I have NCS, but I didn't know noise could cause nausea, either. Has something like this happened to any of you?

I have been given "Zofran" (generic is Ondansetron) and know of others who take the same thing (who have AD).  It was developed as a drug to combat nausea in chemo patients but is now used for much more.
My local EMS has switched to it because it is "safer", there are other ones the cross the blood brain barrier.
I hope your cardiologist is willing you help you out, if not I would ask my internist.  If you don't get anywhere (I'm not sure why at least the internist would say no where many of the cardio's I have seen only want to give meds that deal with the heart)
If you don't get anywhere and still have this going on I would see a gastro. doctor and advocate HARD for yourself unless you are lucky enough to find one who has a clue what AD is and how it can affect your gastric system (I have hit walls with this except the guy who saw me at Mayo who is exposed to "us" on a normal basis so he knew what was ok and not ok.)
I have hidden in a restroom many times so I understand your dilemma.....we do what we have to do!

I don't know if its "normal" for dysautonomia but its normal for me and I have dysautonomia and it started after I started dealing with this.
I have gotten overly sensitive when it comes to my "senses" and the first thing that hits if its too loud, or smells, or is too bright or flickering lights is  nausea.
If I have to stay in the environment that is loud, smells (even smells I used to like), or the lighting issues I mentioned I then get a migraine like headache (close to intensity of "normal" migraine pain but feels different)
Do you have anything for nausea?  Can you find a quiet(er) dark space for a bit and just rest your eyes?

Nope. The only over-the-counter medicine I know for nausea will trigger NCS BAD. And I'll also start to fall asleep. A bad thing to do at work. Sadly, I can't find much of a quieter place when the construction noises are outside. I just go to the bathroom and hide there for a bit, but it's not especially pleasant either, lol.

My son (16) has the same issue. Crowd noise in the background of a baseball game on tv will make him have to leave the room. Tonight the family was playing Yahtzee and he had to go downstairs where it was dark and quiet because the noise made him sick.
I hate that for him--and I'm sorry you deal with it too, especially at work where you can't get away from it.

There are anti-nausea meds. that I and some others on the forum are prescribed and seem "safer" (I am not sure I'd call any medication safe) and don't make you sleepy.  If this keeps up it might be a help to have something.
Hiding in the restroom is not pleasant on a good restroom day....LOL

Interesting! I shall look into those meds. May ask my cardiologist when I next see him, even. I didn't know there were even meds like that.

And yeah, hiding in the restroom isn't pleasant, but I do need a small break every so often, lol. Sometimes because I'm having small blackouts, so I need to not looking like I'm falling asleep (then i'll just have them in the bathroom and "fall asleep" there lol)

The construction site's been quiet the past day or two. This is good. I feel better already.

Very interesting!

I can tolerate (some) music in (quite) low volumes, but that's about it. Street noise is already painful for me, and beyond that, it gets agonizing. Enough noise always hurts me. But it was new to feel nauseous.

The construction here is especially nasty and it's hard to deal with even with the earplugs I've been bringing to work!
