Ocreotide/Sandostatin for POTS?

Hi there,
My flushing has been so terrible of late that my allergist had me see a (ridiculously expensive) specialist for a work-up for Carcinoid syndrome. He, like me, didn't think that is what I have but we've done a bunch of tests so we'll see. He does think i have some kind of problem with mast cell 'triggers' and he mentioned that one thing (depending on test results) we might want to try is Ocreotide (aka "Sandostatin") which can help with mast cell issues. Interestingly, my cardioloogist also mentioned this is something we could try for POTs (he was NOT even thinking about the flushing flares). I'm wondering- have any of you heard of this drug and/or tried it? I would LOVE LOVE LOVE any information/thoughts. Thank you so much!! :) brita

They were contemplating putting my son on ocreotide, but after completing some tests they decided that was not the way to go for him.  It is an injectable if I'm not mistaken.  Other than that, I don't know much about it.
