POTS & hair loss?

I think this may sound like a crazy question, but has anyone had an issue with hair loss?  My hair has always been super thick and it seems to be getting thinner and thinner.  Along with this, my skin itches like crazy, and this includes my scalp.  Most often, it feel like I am being stuck with a pin and have to itch, itch, itch really hard.

I am on minimal medication that I have been taking for years (BP, Crestor, occasional pain meds).

Oh well, thought I would throw it out there and see if anyone can relate.

Thanks~
Cathy

YES. COULD BE BP MED, ESPECIALLY BETA BLOCKER.  ALTHOUGH ALL BO MEDS ARE BAD FOR THINNING HAIR. COOK ONLY IN IRON SKILLET. NEVER MICROWAVE. EAT ORGANIC. GO TO WHOLE FOODS AND PURCHASE RO WATER FOR DRINKING. GET THE INFOWARS.COM PROPUTLR WATER FILTER AND DEEP EARTH CRYSTAL IODINE (INEXPENSIVE).  GOD BLESS.

Was looking on another website where a doctor answered about itchy head and hair loss.  Already had thought of iron deficiency anemia (he mentions anemia), had forgotten about stress- which a doctor I had some years back told me it can be three months down the road before your hair starts falling out, also I had hair loss with a medication- depakote.

Dr. William Rassman on that website I found mentions itchy scalp that can come from hair regrowth, stress and nervous disorders, as well as psoriasis, alopecia areata, inflammatory disease, and things you put in your hair.  He also suggests getting the thyroid tested.

I once called into a doctor show- Dr. Arnold Fox when I had lost a bunch of hair- he told me to take ester-C (think it might have been 500 mg- don't remember), vitamin e (can't remember if it was 100 or 200 iu) and vitamin B 50 time release.  I think it may have helped afterward.  Another time when I'd lost a lot of hair, I was going to an acupuncturist/herbalist for migraines, and she was giving me these herbs and my hair grew thick and healthy looking.  I was told by a Chinese acupuncturist I had later that was due to the high estrogen in the herbs I was taking.  Unfortunately, I think it also made my endometriosis problem I had and didn't know it at the time, worse!

I have rash like boils on my skin. And my hair falls out very much. Never been officially diagnosed with POTS but that is what many here and some of my doctors think I may have. So if so, I have this same problem...

I am also having a horrible time with rashes that are horribly itchy and stay for months and months.  I am going to schedule an appt with a dermatologist and discuss the rashes, as well as the hair loss issue.  As soon as I get some information, I will be sure to post it.

If you get it figured out, please post.  I'd love to get my hair back.  Not to mention to feel better.

Thank you both for your responses.  This is so frustrating!  I have sworn off doctors for the past few months, but ready to get back on my horse again.

I have had excessive all over pain, horrible itching and the hair thing.  Oh well, here I go again!

I've had real bad thinning hair.  I have had numerous thyroid test and they all come back okay.  I also have vitiligo --loss of skin pigment color.  I sort of think maybe it's some type of autoimmune disorder.  But, since my adrenals are affected, it could be causing the vitiligo.  I don't know anymore........very frustrating.  My hair is so thin I'm considering a wig.  My husband says it's not as bad as I think it is.  But, I'm definitely self conscious.

Yes, I had alopecia and my doc ran a bunch of labs and we never figured out the cause.  My hair thinned quite a bit during the peak of it when I was able to pull it out in clumps, but fortunately it was even all over loss, and I have very thick hair to begin with so it doesn't look bad.  It did slow down over a period of months and isn't nearly as dramatic any longer--so that's good!  I have no clue whether mine was meds or from some aspect of illness or what; sorry I can't give you more insight on that.  I'm on WAY more meds than you are, but had no med changes that chronologically fit with the onset of the alopecia.

As for the itching, it could be a number of things.  Have all of us had our thyroids tested a billion times yet??  I swear I'd think by now they've tested not just my T3 and T4 but imaginary stuff like T17.  :-p  But if you haven't had your thyroid panels done lately, you know that can always be a culprit for skin/hair changes.  The thing I tend to blame for rabid itching that isn't attributable to any of my dermatological conditions is neuropathy.  Oh, neuropathy, how I hate thee.  So, yeah, could be some kind of neuropathy thing causing the itch maybe?  Basically, I guess I'm saying that what we really need is a good Dermatolo-Neuro-Endocrinologist around here to give us one-stop shopping for these kind of issues, so we can get to the bottom of things quickly.  :-D

Oh, if I hadn't made it clear--yes, I definitely do relate to the itching.  I use a rx cream called Desoximetasone on any patches of it I can reach and tell myself in a firm voice that "It's Working."  I figure if the cream is bunk, maybe the placebo effect will save me.  So far, so good.  Which is wonderful, else I'd be scratching myself to ribbons.  Sorry you're dealing with this stuff; I hope your hair loss peters off like mine did, and that they either find a treatable cause for your itching or at least find you a treatment, cause withstanding.  Glad to see you, by the way.  Haven't chatted with you in a while.  Hope you're doing alright overall!!
