POTS and exercise

Hello. I am 31 and have POTS (among other things). I find it very difficult to exercise, which I'm sure you all with POTS understand. However, my Dr says it's important to exercise- especially my legs to help with POTS.
I was wondering if anyone has a regimen that has worked for them.
I also have gained a lot of weight b/c of this and hypothyroidism. I would like to lose the weight, but am more concerned with being healthy and decreasing the pots symptoms. If I could do both...... that would be awesome!!! =)
Thanks

Recumbent bike has been better for me too. My cardiologist told me not to let my heart rate above 140.  So far, so good.  I've tried gentle walking many times but can't do it. I also do a little weight training for strengthening my legs more.

Good luck & keep us posted.

I know what you mean about the exercise, I was diagnosed with pots about 3 months ago but have felt very ill for about 8 months prior too that I was finally given a diagnosis, I could not get out of bed for that whole time. I did start on medication and increased my fluids and salt intake and I don't know but about two weeks now I have started my own exercise routine. I bought one of the those watches that I press a button and find out my heart rate so if my heart rate goes too high I sit down. I started very slowly walking around my block with my dog, now the first day I only got 1/4 of the way but every day since then I have pushed myself too take one more step farther and today I made it around twice, and took my bike around the block once, I don't know if its the combination of medications and fluid and salt, but I do feel slightly better, I still have tremors and get vry light headed, but the exercise has made me feel better. Goood Luck one step at a time

Santa brought me a recumbant bike for Christmas. It seems to be working well but I have to be very careful as bp drops way down afterwards.
