Presyncope and Sleeping

Hi! I'm 21 and was diagnosed with POTS and IST about 6 months ago. I am currently taking florinef and zebeta. Last week I started taking an antibiotic for a sinus infection. It made my orthostatic heart rate increase and cause high blood pressure when standing and low blood pressure when lying down. I went to my doctor and stopped taking the antibiotic about 5 days ago but my bp is still low when lying down. This morning I took a short nap. When I was napping, I woke up but my head and body was so heavy I couldn't lift them and couldn't open my eyes. My head felt really heavy but I felt lightheaded at the same time (I have never fainted but I get a lot of presyncope symptoms). I kept getting this feeling then falling back asleep, then waking up but continued to be unable to get up or open my eyes and would fall back into a weird feeling sleep again. I finally was able to "wake up" enough to open my eyes and the heaviness left enough that I could stand up. I felt a lot better after I stood up and I have not laid back down yet today. It scared me pretty bad. It felt like fainting, but I have no idea if it was or not. Have any of you had this happen before? I am going to my cardio tomorrow and am wondering if I should bring it up to him. If any of you know what this is, I would appreciate any comments about it.

Thanks for your responses! I didn't bring it up with my cardio. I haven't had it happen again since then, so I think it must have been from the antibiotic or something, but if it happens again I'm definitely going to talk to him about it.
I'll have to try raising the head of my bed. I have heard that before, but didn't really know if it did anything or not. You're right, it is Bisoprolol. I've been taking it for about 3 months now. At first it lowered my bp a lot, but since I've increased my salt and and florinef, my sitting bp and standing bp have usually been pretty normal. I still get some orthostatic hypotension and I still have some low bp when lying down. My cardio actually just increased my florinef during my last visit so maybe that will help some. Thanks again for your responses and hope you are both doing well!

I have low bp whilst laying and it goes high upon standing.  One method to help with the symptoms of this is to raise the head of your bed.  This is what I have been told to do by my doctors.  It may be worth giving it a try if this continues and see if it gives you any relief.

If I am correct, Zebeta is another name for Bisoprolol, I was first tried on this medication but was taken off it as it lowered my bp to much, more so when I was laying to.  How long have you been taking this for?  It is also used to treat hypertension.
