Should I go Back to work because I have neurocardio syncope? I work as a flagger, which I hold a stop sign in construction zones. I work sometimes on mayor highways. I am afraid my company will not want me working if I faint too often

Hi There,
I have it and I have a sedentary job and it totally wipes me out.  I couldn't imagine standing all day in the elements.  Standing for any length of time is my biggest trigger.  I wouldn't if you can stay home and afford it or do something where you can sit.

Is it a new diagnosis?  Have you ever worked since having it?  Disability is SO hard to get and it seems like a Herculean effort...but I'm going to have to try one day...I just can't go on like this.  And this is WITH my husband doing all the driving!  Think long and hard about it.

no I have been off since Oct. 12, 2010. I have apply for disability because I have COPD and dengenation from whipple lash.  I have fainted twice Sept. 15,2010. I have Doctor appointment tomorrow with cardiologist.

Good luck.  Disability is hard to get...there are several online guides and the one thing I remember is to get a copy of all your medical records and it's better to give them too much instead of not enough.

Personally, I believe that the safety of yourself and others around you at work should be paramount.  Maybe, if it is not safe for you to continue in your role, your employer could provide another position for you (depending on your contract, I think this is legally the correct protocol for employers to follow).  

I would discuss this with your doctors and your employer and hopefully you can make a joint decision that you are happy with x

Have you discussed with your doctor the possibility of taking an SSRI (Celexa, Zoloft, etc.) ?  These drugs can help in some cases, Celexa helped me.  Although being on your feet all day could still be an issue, maybe this can help anyway.  Good luck :-)
