2-3 year Frustrating Sore Throat.........Any advice or help would be very much apperciated...

Hi everyone...here is another question on sore throat. My husband has been having chronic sore throats for the past 2-3 years, about the same amount of time he's been in the States (Nebraska to be exact) actually. He's originally from England. Since About Feb 2005 he has a had server sore throat along with a weak and very horsed voice. After going to countless amount of doctors that didn't seem to know what to do or would give a simple answer as reflux. So we tired all sorts of medication for the reflux, for about a year and none of them worked. When he first got it we went to our family doctor and he gave us samples of levaquin which did amazing with in a week his voice was back, but after about 4-5 months of being off the levaquin the sore throat came back and along came the weak and horsed voice again. So we went back to our family doctor which then said we needed to see a throat specialist. Which we did. He said he wasn't sure what it could be, but then came to the conclusion that it might be reflux again. And again we tried the prescribed reflux medication but it didn't work. So after being frustrated with this sore throat for over a year I sent him back home to England to get it sored out by his doctor and lone and be hold his doctor gave him some more levaquin and with in a few weeks his voice was back again...so after a few months of being in the UK he came back to the states and he kept his voice for about 2 month and woke up this morning horsed all over again and frustrated...Does anyone know what this could possible be so we can fix it once and for all...Since Levaquin is a anti bacterial medication I don't know what it could possible be. Could it be Allergies? to the climate/environment/state or pets? Any help or advice would be appreciated greatly!!!!!

Thanks in advance!!!

Does your husband suffer any allergy symptoms at all, and/or does the inside of his throat look "cobbled?"  I had a similar problem last September, my throat feeling raw and sore all the time for several weeks until my ENT prescribed me a nasal spray antihistamine... after a week or so of using that all my symptoms disappeared.  Apparently the amount of post-nasal drip coming down my throat was just ruining me, and the antihistamine was what it took to bring it back down.  Hopefully your husband's problem is equally easy to fix!  Good luck.
