My 10 year old son has had a fever for 5 days. It has gone from 104 to 100. The doctor gave him amoxicillan, but after 3 days, he still has a fever. He has been sleeping so much. I know his body needs rest to fight off whatever is in him, but I'm worried something serious is wrong. Usually the antibiotic makes him better in 24-48 hours. It has been 72 hours, and he still has a fever. He is eating very little. I keep giving him plenty of water. He said nothing hurts him, but his nose is running constanty and he has a slight cough when he's up. Should I be concerned, or just hang in there and let it run its course?
