8 yr old with 2 lumps on neck

Hello,

my son is 8 yrs old and has had a swollen lymph node under his right jaw for the last year. It is a tender node the maybe about an inch long. He has had blood work done-came back normal, he also had an ultrasound that confirmed- "appears to be benign lymph nodes". Just recently our son has been complaining about pain in his throat, I checked his throat and found another lump on his actual neck. This new lump is hard, round and about half an inch big. We emailed his Dr and she said to keep an eye on it, it may have appeared due to a cold. and if it does not go away in the next couple of weeks, we should schedule an appt. However he has not been sick in the last month to 2 months. when would be the appropriate time to ask for a referral to see an ENT Dr? or what can I do at this point?
