Anyone have small bones removed under Inferior Turbinate

Anyone have small bones removed under Inferior Turbinate

Anyone have the short op procedure where the underlying bone i removed. This small bone is under the sub-mucosa of the inferior turbinate.  My EENT said that this may help provide a little wider nasal passage for me. I have had 2 Radio Frequency reductions of the turbinates over the past 4 years and a 3rd one cannot be performed-will do no good. I simply have a narrow passage i my nostrils. Tried various steroidal and NS nasal sprays to little avail.
There will not be a resection or removal of the existing turbinates.

Love to hear from anyone who has gone through this: the pain, post-op bleeding, the recovery and results in terms of percentage better breathing, complications, etc..

Sincerely
Peter

The radio freq stuff doesnt work. I had that done and had to go back to have my inferior turbinates reduced by another method. As an electrical engineer i can't see how they could possibly use radio freq to reduce something. The second time around was a better result. There weren't any complications with the reduction. My ENT did not use nasal packing so that was a plus. There was blood leaking from my nose(like cranberry juice) for a day or so. I changed my dressing maybe 3 to 4 times during those first two days. I didn't have that much pain. I remember taking one killer post op but that was it.

Radiofrequency ablation works by first destroying tissue and then by the creation of scar tissue in the area.  According to various published studies, it is effective.  I tend to lean more toward submucus resection using a suction-microdebrider.  This actually removes tissue and has, in some studies, shown more durable effects.  This might be a reasonable next option.
