It sounds like you probablu do have a sinus infection and a trip to the doctor would be helpful.

As far as the distorted smells are concerned - that is a condition called parosmia.  Do some research on that on line.  It had many initial triggers, sinus infection being one of them.  Sometimes it will go away with the healed infection and sometimes the smells linger for a while.

Good luck and feel better.

This works for me.  There's no question that this problem is an infection of some kind.  When the body is fighting an infection, it relies heavily on Vitamin A and also Omega 3 Fatty Acids.  I, myself, take a lot of Vitamin A.  So much that somebody in this forum will undoubtedly chime in and remind everyone that Vitamin A is toxic.  I take about 200,000 i.u.'s at a time and within a matter of hours the smell in my nose is completely gone--and the discharge.  Completely gone.  However, in a couple of days, the smell is back.  What can I say: it's an infection.  Bacteria is an SOB and you have to fight it aggressively.  So I take another 200,000, also Vitamin D here and there and I eat a lot of salmon.  For the Omega 3's, it's really better to eat the fish.  Here's something I pulled off-line, but you should do your own research as there are very strict rules involving vitamin A and pregnancy, children, etc.  --Despite vitamin A's reputation for potential toxicity, vitamin A deficiency is far more common than cases of toxicity. Subjects in the EUROSCAN study were given 300,000 IU/day of vitamin A for one year followed by 150,000 IU/day for the second year.--  --end copy and paste--  The most important thing to remember is don't wallow in the problem.  The simple fact is you are not as healthy as some, but healthier than others.  If you want to be healthier, then get healthier.  Be smart.  It's a grubby little germ.  So kick it's ***!
