Bloody Tonsil Stones

I've had problems with reoccurring sore throat and tonsil stones on my right tonsil for the past month or so. It usually is indicated by a random sore throat, and when I check in the mirror, there it is, a huge nasty tonsil stone.  These are not the individual teeny-tiny ones either, when they come out they're usually about pea-sized or a little bigger. X_X Ick! I read online that you can dislodge them by gently pushing up and backward on your tonsil with a q-tip, and this has worked so far to dislodge them, and helps my throat not to be sore. But today, after several stone-free days, I find an enormous stone again on my right tonsil. When I cough/dislodge this one, it is bloody... It's not a scratch or anything, because one of the pieces was purple/black itself rather than having blood just on top of it. I didn't stick anything sharp in my mouth, and I haven't even had one for about a week. I am not running a fever, and my left tonsil feels fine. This has been going on for about a month (minus the blood, that's the only new thing), and I can't seem to find out anything about it. Has anyone else had this? Is it a symptom of tonsilitis? I'm going to call my doctor tomorrow morning to set up an appointment, but I wanted to know how serious it might be. Thanks!
