Burning cheeks

Hi there,
New to this site.....I would love anyone who can tell me my mysterious health problem....
Burning that flares up in the afternoon on my face...it is extremely hot at times....
I have been diagnosed finally last saturday with a viral sinus infection caused by the herpes zoster virus and diagnosed with maxillary sinus infection by another net just before Xmas.....I have had this since late summer of 2011... Had nothing like this before....went to a regular doctor in the summer..nothing there...went to an net shortly after and nothing really there either but was put on an antibiotic for a week and then put on an antibiotic for two weeks before Xmas and now finished one week of another antibiotic and viral...Valtrex....seems to have taken the headache pain away....but still BURNING! And swollen cheeks!
Help! I appreciate any info....I have had sinus infections before but not like this one in length!

UPDATE...

Last Friday morning on Friday the 13th..I got results back from an allergy test....mold allergy of 1313 for the IgE levels in my blood....the regular max range is up to 170....I am on flonase and an antihistamine and a yeast mold powder for my stomach......the burning still comes and goes and feels more permanent now.....will the burning and swelling go down through time from an undiagnosed mold allergy?
I wonder if there are still trigeminal nerve damage from this? If it was left undiagnosed for so long...what do you think?
Mold allergies usually happen in late summer....that is when this all happened.....my sleep was off for 8 weeks and for the first time this week I have 6 days of good sleep only one day off.....I have developed some malaise chills over the last two weeks as well....but still a fighter.....last night I fell asleep without taking my claritin....just tired feel ok right now....feels like it couldnflare up at any time....I live with the burning daily....I would greatly appreciate any comments....
Ps. By the way the chills were so bad two weeks ago that I dropped all the ENts and took a proactive stance...I got dental treatment in case of the teeth.....I event back to my regular doc and demanded blood tests and urine tests...all came back perfect even my fatty liver repaired itself perfectly and they were surprised the ents didn't do an allergy tests....they
LEt me suffer on antibiotics and antivirals etc....can mold allergy affect the trigeminal nerve? I ended up with a dermatologist prescribing the flonase powder fort the gut and claritin that I recommended...I am the patient..strange thing but the only reason I now know what I have is because of me and not because of any other doc....
Lastly, could a mold allergy be relate to something like HIV eb virus fibromyalgia or Cfs or lupus?
I would greatly appreciate your comments but all I know ismthat I have a severe mold allergy...

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello and hope you are doing well.

Yes, your symptoms could be due to herpetic neuralgia. Herpes infection affects the nerves and can cause pain and other sensations along the nerve path. Your symptoms should come down as the infection resolves.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

I have three questions for you guys:
1) it is so hot when it comes on but I use air conditioning in my car to cool down.. Works... Moving around also is good
2) one nurse thought it may be blocked nerve???
3) herpes zoster diagnosed last Saturday herpetic neuralgia is my best guess???
What does anyone think with my more above detail...

Do you get any flushing and/or rashes along with teh "heat"?  And are your cheeks actually hot to the touch or do they just feel like they are burning (like when you have a fever)?  ARE you running any fevers at these times or any other time?

I would definitely agree with the above poster, too, about having your teeth checked - if you've got an abscess going on, it can definitely cause sinus issues, fever, pain, etc., as well as the swelling.

It could be that your medication is causing this...but if it started before the medication then I doubt.
You could be going through the male version of menopause as well.

I have heard of people developing weird symptoms caused by sinus infection, although I have had sinus infections my entire life ( on and off ) and have never had this happen to me.
Have you had your teeth checked?
Quite often nasty sinuses can lead to or be caused from tooth problems.

The whole cheek thing sounds more like hot flashes to me though.
Hot flashes can be caused by almost anything...anxiety, depression, menopause ( even the male version ), etc.
Your doctor wasn't able to tell you what is causing it?
