Our  18 year old son has developed ear pressure that causes him to lose his hearing- predisome/steroids opened it up twice the last couple months, but the pressure is back about two weeks after the dosage is taken.  We have been to an ENT and neurologist- who wants to do an MRI, and MRA- our son hasn't had tubes.... don't know how to keep the ears open- it's very frustrating.

It probably would not show that type of problem.  Considering that is a problem with it just functioning.  These tests would show more of fluid, mass, or structural abnormality.  Good luck!

I work for a group of radiologists and I also have terrible ear trouble I am trying to get to the bottom of.  I asked one of the radiologists what the best tests would be to see the inner ear.  MRI with enhancement shows soft tissue abnormalitiy as well as fluid.  CT shows bony abnormality.  That is all I know.  Good luck!
