For the past 20 years I have dealt with choking on food and water. Over the years it seems to be getting worse. The food gets caught in my throat and I cannot breathe. I start gasping for air and I'm choking. At times it gets so bad that I've had the heimlich maneuver performed on me. I have been to several doctors and they have performed all sorts of tests for about a year. They all stated everything was normal and nothing abnormal. But no solution was found. The last doctor I saw stated there was a mechanical problem with my windpipe, but did not offer any remedy. I developed my own mechanism for dealing with the chocking. When I felt an attack come on, I would lower my head and wait till the feeling passed, but now that does not work anymore. I chock easily on soft foods, when I drink water, and when I eat any kinds of food. Other than that I'm a healthy man of 56 years. I do not have any other symptoms. I am pretty healthy overall and take care of myself very well. I work out and I'm fit for my age. I just don't understand why doctors have not find a cure for my choking symptoms. Am I the only person in the world who has exhibited such symptoms? Please help.
