Chronic ear infections with Ear Tubes and blood coming out of them

My 3 1/2 year old son had Tubes placed in his ears 14 months ago and he has since had 10 ear infections and his left ear seems to constantly have blood in it. He has recently been to his doctor and we were told he had a double ear infection again and the doc. gave antibotics. When we went back for his follow up we found out it didn't take care of things, infact his ear were worse.  3/4 of the left ear was blocked with dried blood and the right that was previously slightly inflammed is now more red than a fire truck and causing sever pain to were he isn't sleeping much. He has an appoinment with a different ENT than who did his surgery on March 28. I am just concerned that it may be more that just chronic ear infections. Anybody else experience the same or can give advice/insight would be much appreciated.

I am 15 years old, and had chronic ear infections up until I was six, I got tubes put in when I was 1, but they didn't work so I got my tounsils and adenoids out when I was six. It solved everything up until fall of 2011 when I was training hard for volleyball. I had an ear infection from august until may. The tubes didn't do a single thing to help me at all. They are worthless. I have had a bloody discharge since I got them on a daily basis, and my ear infection never went away. Now there's a chance I won't get to play volleyball because of it, and I'm a starting varsity player!

My daughter is 3 years old and she had her tubes inserted since she was 16 months. She has had very badly ear infections since then and with ciprodex drops and antibotics we managed. Today she had a bloody dischard and we ran to the pediatrician. He told me that this is normal at this age and I asked why she did not complaint about the pain. Because there is no pain thanks to the tubes. If the tubes where not there she will be in a lot of pain becuse all the fluids would be there and there would be no draining. I am planning to visit the specialist who did the surgery just to double check was going on with the hearing aspect and how it could be affected with all these infections.

My little guy has had tubes since May 2011.  He has been ear infection free till this week.  I noticed blood in his left ear the other day so I took him tothe doctor.  He said it was fine and that his ear drum had burst and was releasing the fluid.  Not so sure I am comfortable with the answer. Blood coming from your ear dosen't seem right to me.

My 5 year old daughter had ear tubes put in two years ago but one fell out within that year and now the other is in the canal ready to fall out. The school nurse called because my daughter had a large amount of yellowish white discharge.. is this normal after a tube falls out? Thanks!

I have 7 yr old twins. We first started noticing hearing loss in SK so we went to the DR. Ears were plugged with wax. So they cleaned them out, then went for hearing test and both of them had 25% hearing loss and fluid in the ear. They were sent to seperate specialist my son was put on nasonix and after about 2 months his ears startef to drain slowly but he has constant sinus infections. My daughter she had tubes put in last June and nothing but trouble.I noticed an odour from her right ear at the end of summer. She was put on ear drops. Then a month or so ago blackish colour wax or dirt came out of ear, I thought that was it. She never complained about pain and then last week she went for her needles I asked the DR to look inside her ear and he saw something white. She said its sore so he put her on ear drop for @ weeks. It started to drain whitish discharge and yesturday blood has started to come out with it. She goes back to DR in 2 days but says her ear feels better. I just wish this would stop. Poor kid!!!

my six year old son has had tubes twice and also had his tonsils and adnoids removed, he has had 6 ear infections since his surgert and always has constant drainage and blood. The school currently held him back because he cant hear, the poor kid can never pass a hearing test because he always has fluids in his ears, so he has yet to be diagonsed with any hearing damage. ive been in circles since he was 2 and everytime its ear drops antibiotics or another surgery.

I have exactly the same problem... My son has 3 years old, he has ear tubes.  About 1 month ago he had a blood discharge, and it seems he has always dry blood in his left ear. I'm visiting the doctor every 3 weeks the doctor says that isn't possible to see because he has dry blood, so he gave him ear drops to clean and his waiting to see. I verified that my son doesn't ear from that ear. I'm very afraid that his audition was affected by the tube insertion. Please give me news about your problem!! How did you solve your situation?

I'm so glad you are getting a second opinion as it seems that you all have been put through the wringer. I don't know that much about tubes in ears, but want to offer some support to you.  My sister had them, but never any trouble.
The bleeding makes you wonder if they have moved or maybe it's from the infection/inflamation. Sounds to me like he might be better off without them, but I am not a dr????? Maybe talk to the new dr about some symptoms of allergy to the tubes, if they exist??? Best of luck to you and I hope you get the answers that you need soon. tmv
