Constant Sinus Infections

For the past five or six years of my life, I have been getting sinus infections. I get them, am treated sometimes for a week, and sometimes, all the way up to three weeks. I usually feel better for about two weeks, when my symptoms present again, and I am told I have another infections. I typically get seven or eight a year. I have mild allergies to dust and grass, which I receive allergy shots for. I had been to my ENT several times over the past few months and have had sinus surgery to clean out my sinuses, shrink my turbinate and air filters, straighten my septum, among other things. Within a week post-op, I had the worst sinus infection of my life. After about every antibiotic on the market, it is April, and I still have it. My ENT is stunned and no one can tell me why I am always sick. Along with my sinus issues, I have many others. From age five, until eight, I had constant strep throat. I had my tonsils and adenoids removed. I have social anxiety disorder. I have been recently diagnosed with a thyroid auto-immune disease. I don't know if this is relevant, but two times in the past year, my doctors have thought I had cancer. Both times test came back negative, but it keeps coming back. It's really hard to be fifteen and already have like twelve doctors, including an oncologist. I am constantly tried, congested, and I often feel faint and dizzy. I am also overweight, but I eat really healthy. It's because I am always so tired, I just come home and sleep. No one in my family believes me; they say I choose to do it, but how many teenagers do you know that would rather sleep, than go hand out with there friends? Sometimes, when I have reading or watching television and I move my head just slightly in one direction, I'll will fell extremely dizzy and like I am going to pass out, but within seconds, it's gone. I also often feel weak in the knees, and my hands and arms get tired really easily. I just want to know what's wrong. To me, all of my doctors are treating everything separately, but I want to know if everything is really connected.

If you have a thyroid auto-immune disease that alone can cause weight problems, swollens glands and other symptoms you are having. The sinus problem may be seperate. I had a rhinoplasty done three years ago. Ever since the surgery to fix a septum i have had a constant nasel drip and infections. It sounds like the physicians were knife happy with you for such a young age.

I thought I was the only one. We have had similar experiences.
Growing up I kept a strep throat infection, which led to the removal of my tonsils by age 12.  I first started feeling the sinus symptoms in my last two years of undergrad.  I was about 20-21.  Headaches, facial tissue pressure, dizziness, sweaty palms, cold limbs, frequent urination, chest pains, and the feeling that I would black out.  The doctors said I had anxiety attacks and only prescribed ibu 800.  At age 23 when I was expecting my doctor, which was a relative ran various test for me.  He also told me that our family had a history of hyper-thyroids.  Now at age 26 the pressure is back on and I’m seeking help.

That sounds interesting. I use a basic saline rinse, and it has done nothing for me. How long until it will be on the market?

I can appreciate your continuous suffering from sinus infections.  As a senior citizen I have suffered from chronic sinus since I was 20 years of age.  I have spent thousands of dollars in attempting to find an answer to my problem including two different sinus operations (one was endoscopic) and these surgeries have shown no improvement.  I have taken over 10 different antibiotics including fungizone (an antifungal medication) and have had no positive results.  Due to ENT doctors over prescribing antibiotics, I now have no taste or smell.  I have spent considerable time researching chronic sinus and it appears that Mayo Clinic has made the proper analysis of chronic sinus.  They claim that over 95% of all chronic sinus conditions are caused by fungus and not bacteria.  Unfortunately, at this time, there is no known cure for chronic sinus.  Mayo Clinic is working with other researchers to develop a medication to treat fungus but those results may be a couple of years away.  Since chronic sinus can produce over a quart of mucus a day in your nasal passages, every sufferer must find a way to rid their nose of this mucus.  Mayo Clinic recommends daily irrigation of your nasal passages with a simple saline solution being the most effective way.   This process founded in South East Asia many generations ago, has brought forth the “Netie Pot” as the popular applicator for nasal flushing.  As the result of my research on this subject, I am in the process of developing a new chronic sinus nasal therapy that incorporates the Mayo studies plus a much improved saline solution called “SinuDoc.”   SinuDoc contains all natural ingredients including regular saline plus menthol and a special formulated herbal tea.  Our herbal tea includes special herbs that many herbalists believe they may control or reduce fungus symptoms.  When we complete our marketing plans for this new product, it will feature a new type of  applicator which will replace the “Netie Pot.”  In our preliminarily testing of SinuDoc, we have had excellent results from our 15 participants.  In my own case, I have (first time in years) experienced cleared passages by doing daily AM flushing and supporting the remainder of the day with 3 oz Target Brand saline spray container which is available at Target Stores.  This 3 oz container is a better flusher than the normal 2 oz spray container found in other saline brands.  We are looking for about another 85 participants to test SinuDoc. i get dizziness too, along with other sinus symptoms, and fatigue. i hear its allergies (allergic rhinitis, postnasal drip, and probably eustachian tube problems ). i hope it is and not something serious, i have anxiety problems anyway and now for the past year and a half a mystery illness making it worse.
