Could my son be tongue-tied?

Hi,
I am a first time mom to a beautiful baby boy.
My son is 20 weeks and 3 days old today. A few months ago I noticed that his tongue sticks out a little when he sleeps and that sometimes you can see him sucking on his tongue when he is asleep, which I mentioned to his doctor but she said nothing was wrong. Last night my husband said that my son's tongue looks long and pointy when he sticks it out. My son is now formula fed, though I did want to breast feed and even hired a lactation consultant to help me without any luck I pumped for about 1.5 months but finally gave up and assumed that my son could not latch-on because he was given a bottle before I could try (I had developed a fever of 104 and could not breastfeed right away and he was rushed to nicu).
My question is, could my son be tongue-tied and if so what should I do?

Thank you in advance.

It's my understanding that tongue tied is when the tongue doesn't protrude normally due to the little muscle underneath the tongue.

The way they correct that is to cut the little muscle under the tongue. It doesn't sound as if this is your son's problem tho.

If your pediatrician isn't concerned at this point then I would just keep an eye on it and see if he develops any problems with eating or sucking on the bottle.
