Can they split open? I have a white growth on my left nostril in the bottom center that confused me for a while and annoyed me so I poked at it constantly thinking something was lodged there.. it causes dried mucus to build up behind it that I can't blow out easily.. also in the last few days I noticed a large split in my septim with a hard edge around it. It's not bleeding but I've found clumps of dried blood in that nostril (the right one) and when I blow sometimes there's blood spattered in with the mucus. I have several sinus/respiratory infections in the past few years and have currently had wheezing and coughing for the past month. It's not as bad as the infections I usually get but its lasted a lot longer and I'm afraid I might have a serious condition. Thank you for your time. Sorry post is so long. I'm just worried.

i agree with canada110 nose sprays didnt help my problem either and i have tried many and it makes you wonder if nose sprays used too much only complicate problems? and Dr Choi back a week or so ago you mention that maybe a doctor is being too cavalier what does that mean?

Canada110's complications with surgery is exactly why i think nasal steroids are worth a try before surgery

guys personally i would say that sprays don't work but that is only my opion. i think one needs to get the thing removed and then have a daily routine of nasal rinses and keep to it.as far as having a blocked nose it's probably the septum and no medicine can help that other than surgery. before you elect to have surgery make sure you see a few different ents and get the one you think is the best and most comfortable with TRUST ME it took me two surgeries to fix my septum and i still regret touchign it.i think we all need to realize if it's really not that bad then why risk anything by going for surgery.if you can live with it then please do

What I should have said is that Nasonex is the nasal steroid Dr. Choi is talking about.

Also, Nasonex is now being used to treat polyps.  http://sev.prnewswire.com/biotechnology/20051213/NYTU03413122005-1.html

When you go see an ENT, ask him or her about it.

An ENT can shrink the polyps with nasal steroids, but if that doesn't work, surgery can help.

breathe right helps some people, not many

the long skinnly tube with light is called nasolaryngoscopy

I agree, go see an ENT

Hi I read what you typed about if any cure for nasal polyps. I myself have alot way inside my face and my nose is always blocked. You should see an ear, nose and throat doctor (ENT). They usually try medicine before they think of surgery to remove polyps. I had a cat scan done and they gave me nose spray to shrink the polyps to breathe better. I take Nardil antidepressant so I have to watch what i can take. If your nose is blocked all the time you can buy those nose tapes, called Breathe Right. They have no medicine or drugs in them, they come in clear or tan color, small or large and they helped me alot. I have days where I don't need to wear them and days I do need to wear it. I wore it going out but used the clear ones for that so people don't see. But it's up to you what you want to do. The only cure is to get surgery that will get rid of the polyps but they say they grow back if you don't control your allergies. But there are other ways to try to shrink them with  meds. I went to ENT and he put a long skinny tube with light and camera on the end to look down in my nose and he looked in throat too. I was afraid but it turned out nothing. Putting it down my nose, not that far either, just made my eyes water. and putting down my throat was not that far down either, I opened my mouth so wide and flattened my tongue he didn't even touch anything in my throat. I practiced in mirror long time. LOL Anyway go see an ENT just for his opinion and then think about what he says. Hope this all helps. Polyps can be annoying.
