Cyst on left sinus

The doctor has found a cyst on my left sinus.  I am waiting for an appointment with an ENT, but it is not until March.  For those of you who have had a surgery on your sinus, what was done?

Lately, I have had an ear infection, which cannot be cured.  At the moment I am using Flonase and something for pain.  I have high blood pressure so there is a limit to what I can take.  I am really curious about surgery because I have had a headache off and on for four months, pain in my check and my eye, down to my teeth.  (left side).

Any help would be appreciated.

Marlie

The Dr done a ct scan discovered a large cyst so we went to ent he says watch it and have repeated scan every 6 month's so we did and within that time it doubled in size so we took her bck to peds Dr he sent her to another ent he immediately wanted cyst took out so he treated her with antibiotics and nose sprays got allergy test done she was put on allergy shots then first surgery he went in nose drained cyst packed with meds but within just a few months it returned worse so he went in 2 cnd time packed flushed n treated and within a few months it was bck so third time he tried the cheek bone had calicified so bad he couldn't get through ! So then he went through gum packed flushed and used balloon to open passage then nxt surgery he removed tonsils and adnoids now its bck and 3 cm in size and now she has been referred to ent in Nashville bc we dnt know why it keeps coming bck so fierce and fast !!!She has been checked for cystic fibriosis and mccune Albright both were negative but its now affecting her ear drum and eyes ! So if anyone has had similar or any info I would greatly appreciate it !! Very concerned mom

I know this is an old post, but is there anybody in the UK who have had their cysts removed? If so, would you mind telling me your story and who your surgeon was? I am fighting a constant battle with ENT as they keep telling me that cysts do not cause symptoms and refuse to remove mine...

I have had a left maxillary Sinus Cyst for 3 years now. I had the option 3 years ago to have it removed I didn't do it. I regret it!! I haven't stop going to the Dr. since for recurent sinus infections, headaches, eye aches etc. and lots of antibiotics. So know I plan to have it removed I hope is not to late and it became cacerous that happend to a Uncle of mine the cancer started from a sinus cyst and it was undetected for years until it spread to other parts of the body. If this day I had the same option I would not think it twice and have it remove before it caused me so much time, money and pain and sufering for 3 long years. I hope my case can help you.

About a year and a half ago I underwent sinus surgery for a small cyst in my left maxilllary sinuses and a large one in my right maxiallary sinuses.  The past few months I have been suffering form severe headaches and tooth pain so my dr. ordered an MRI.  The MRI showed thickening of the maxiallary sinuses.  Does this mean my cysts are coming back?   Is there anything less invasive than surgery if my cysts are indeed returning?  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Was your surgery done through your nose or your mouth.  My doctor says that they will go in above my gum line.  I have no problem taking time off of work I have lots of sick days, but I have 2 children who I am always busy with.  I find that I am really groggy and tired all the time, did you have this and did it go away?

Let me calm your fears and anxiety about Sinus Surgery!  I just had it done on January 5, 2009 and could not be more pleased with the procedure and results.
My scenario started with a severly abcessed tooth back in late May to early June of 2008. Oral surgery was done in the form of a soft tissue I & D to removed the infection.
That along with antibiotics seemed to relieve the situation. BUT..that was surgery along with FIVE antibiotics--Amoxicillin, 1gm IM Injection of Rocephin, Clindamycin, Bactrim DS and Augmentin 875mg.  That was a TON of antibiotics.  Over the next few months I would have a recurring pain that could not be determined to be related to the tooth or maybe more of a sinus infection.  In October of 3008, the tooth again abcessed requiring a procedure called an Apicoectomy.  SO--that was two oral surgeries for that tooth.
(It had previously -- years ago, had two different root canals and crowns) After the Apicoectomy, I continued to have a foul taste in my mouth that would not clear up even with antibiotics and it appeared to be coming from the tooth.  The oral surgeon determined that the tooth was healthy at this point and sent me to see an ENT surgeon. The ENT surgeon did not feel I had a sinus infection but did put me on another antibiotic
(Levaquin) for 14 days and then did a CT Scan of the head. He found what appeared to be chronic sinusitis on CT and thought that I could have possibly had a fungal infection in the sinus cavities--so Sinus Surgery it became.  The outcome was multiple sinus polyps and cyst -- causing the sinus' to not drain properly.  After the surgery, 10 more days of antibiotics and so far I have been symptom free!  I feel better than I have felt in MONTHS!  Now for the surgery itself.  My surgery was a procedure called FESS. That is functional endoscopic sinus surgery.  It was done under general anesthesia in an outpatient surgery center.  When I woke from surgery in the recovery room, I had some burning sensation in my face, but not true pain. I was given ample time to wake up from anesthesia, given crackers and Coke and when I was awake enough, I got dressed and went home.  I was given medication for pain and nausea to use at home as well as instructed to keep ice packs on my face frequently to help with bleeding and swelling.
The was a "drip pad" taped under my nose the first couple of days to help with any
dripping blood.  That bleeding was minimal.  My surgery was done on Thursday and the Surgeon asked that I remain off work until I saw him again on Monday. I did return to work on Tuesday. Pain from the procedure was minimal.  I did take my pain medication and nausea medication, but basically I did that to make sure I stayed in bed and slept.
The key to keeping down bleeding is to use the ice as directed and to keep quiet and calm. Becoming active will bring about an increase in blood pressure and can lead to
more bleeding. I NEVER HAD FACIAL SWELLING and only one very small bruised area.
Bottom line is...do EXACTLY as the Surgeon advises you to do and you will be fine.
The improvedment for me has been incredible.  If I had to do this again tomorrow, I would
do so without fear or concern.  My only regret in it is that I did not find the sinus connection to my tooth MONTHS earlier!  :-)  I had always known that sometimes with
sinus infections, my teeth would be sensitive, but never did I realize just how close they are related!

Hi I was wondering if you had your cyst removed? I have one that I have to have removed in March and I was wondering about the recovery time and if it was day surgery or if you had to stay in over night, also did your symptoms go away after the surgery?
