Deviated Septum (Advise needed)

Hi there

To cut a very  long story short :)  I have been ill basically for 2 or more years, started out as a problem with persistent dull  headaches. Had an MRI around a year and half ago (Normal), recent ECG And blood tests (All Normal)

I became quite depressed as everyday I felt sick and pale and worried but could not find any answers.

So recently I visited an ENT, a CT Scan of the sinuses showed that I have a deviated septum & Rhinitis, although there showed no signs of infection, my nose is quite bad with inflammation.

I am going to have an operation in the next couple of weeks to correct this, I just hope this will cure me.

Here are my symptoms, I would like to know if all of these could be associated with a deviated septum, I would love to know of people with similar symptoms who are going to have the surgery or who already have had surgery, and of course anyone else that wants to comment.

Symptoms :

Persistent headache (Dull, Pressure like & Occasionally pulsating and short striking pain)
Eye pain (Dull & Occasional striking pain)
Ears (Pressure like, occasionally buzzing)
Dreamy headed (Most days)
Fatigue
Nose (Constantly blocked but completely dry, never runs)
Mucus at back of my throat
Bad Taste in my mouth (Most days)
Lack of concentration & Motivation
Anxiety
Pale (Most days)

I have also noticed that If I get up too quickly my head will pulsate for about ten seconds in rhythm with my heart. This also causes  pressure in my ears.

Should also point out that the ENT said that my problems are with the left side of my nose being more blocked that the other because of the deviated septum, although I have noticed that my nose seems to change throughout the day, for example in the morning my left nostril could be completely blocked and by lunch time it has cleared a little and then my right nostril is completely blocked. It changes throughout the day, everyday.

I know it’s a hard question to answer, but would the surgery cure the above? As my ENT said, “ I can fix your nose but I cant guaranty that it will take away your headaches “, I fully understand that :) I just have to live and hope that it will help me.

Thanks for reading

Same here I’m set to have the surgery as well. Mild sleep apnea as well which started pvcs for me it all makes sense lack of oxygen to the heart. Sharp shooting pains on left side which is where my severe deviated septum is. Hopefully after surgery all this goes away and proceed with life. Praying helps a lot stay strong in faith

A lot of your symptoms will be relieved by the surgery. A deviated septum blocks the nasal passages. If they can't drain then you will get headaches, fatigue, psot nasal drip, and most of the other symptoms. Your sinuses can affect so many things in your body. I'm not sure about the anxiety, it could be a result of not getting relief from symptoms and lack of sleep.

Good luck and keep us posted on how the surgey goes,
Melissa
