Difficulty clearing sinus/swallowing

One two occasions, once several years ago, and again several days ago I had difficulty clearing my sinus and marginal difficulty swallowing.

Clearing my sinus seems to involve first sniffing to expel phlegm from the sinus, then swallowing with the throat constricted to force phlegm into the mouth, then relaxing the throat to swallow it.

On these two occasions swallowing with my throat constricted seemed to bring a bulge of tissue like some form of hernia from the back of my palate into my mouth.    I did not feel any pain associated with this, however, I did not want to try pushing it.

Overnight this seemed to resolve itself on both occasions.

Can anybody tell me what this and what, if anything, I should do about it?

Thanks.

sounds like you could possibly be feeling the discomfort of post-nasal drip, blocking the eustachian tubes, disturbing your hearing, pain with swallowing

pretty common. see your doctor.  nasal steroids can help

the feeling of a bulge of tissue could be an irritation from post-nasal drip

it sounds normal.

ask your doctor.
